I have to call my father, and let him make fun of me because I thought last week was Father's day and already called him then. Really though, it's a good present for him.

My father told me to call back because he was busy reading the ads in the paper. My mother told me it didn't count if I wished her happy birthday early, I'd need to call again tomorrow. My father insisted I tell him what was in the package he was going to get late.

I tried to call my dad for pop's day. But he's on a road trip to Wyoming which means my heartfelt card missed him. But he did get my Cabela's gift certificate which is good because he'll be driving past a Cabela's on his way to points West.

Emmett made me a Father's Day card in his last week at school. It's made out of black construction paper and looks like a tuxedo jacket (with the shirt and bowtie on a separate xeroxed sheet inside). I'm sure the teacher directed them all making the same kind of card.
Inside it says (in a neat cursive script):
Dear Dad, Thank you for being helpful with my homework and playing baseball with me. I like it when you read to me at night and when I beg you sometimes read me more. I like it when you sing to me in the hallway and in the rocking chair. Thank you for being my dad! Sincerely, Emmett.
