They were slightly agog. And some of it was "Is it because of us?" and no. It absolutely isn't etc. etc.
After school two girls came by and asked m why I was really leaving and said they'd miss me.
Poor chickidees as they'll be stuck there again next year.

I think many were relieved because I'm not at all the easiest teacher they have.

Cindy, I do have something else lined up at a local middle school. Exactly what is lined up is a still, somewhat of a mystery. But they are expecting me to be there on opening day of school (which is July 5 this year).

Or it could also be that I'm leaving them halfway through a 2 year cycle. Granted, it's much easier to get a qualified teacher to replace me than if I had left them in January, and my contract runs from 7/1 through 6/30 and I'm not obligated to stay with, contractually, for 2 years.
But maybe she just expected that I would because it would have been the right thing to do for the kids.
But being at that school fills me with such dread and bile that I'm leaving them for MY sake.
