Happy Birthday, Cass!!
I must have missed a day or something, because I'm behind. Kat, what are you doing next? ETA: I'm assuming there is a "next" lined up because of some post or other, but I can't remember what it was. I just remember thinking I needed to ask about that.
Not important enough to say twice.
Cindy, I do have something else lined up at a local middle school. Exactly what is lined up is a still, somewhat of a mystery. But they are expecting me to be there on opening day of school (which is July 5 this year).
I mean, you're not kicking her puppies on the way out or anything, are you?
I think it was the fact that I was so excited and grinning the whole time.
Or it could also be that I'm leaving them halfway through a 2 year cycle. Granted, it's much easier to get a qualified teacher to replace me than if I had left them in January, and my contract runs from 7/1 through 6/30 and I'm not obligated to stay with, contractually, for 2 years.
But maybe she just expected that I would because it would have been the right thing to do for the kids.
But being at that school fills me with such dread and bile that I'm leaving them for MY sake.

Very rude of you to be happy about making a change in your life for the better. Next time, be sure to be fucking up, so she doesn't have to get pissy.
When did this become all about you?
Isn't everyone happy and grinny when they give notice?
Isn't everyone happy and grinny when they give notice?
I was so stressed, I threw up after giving notice once. Does that count?
Huh, come to think of it, I don't think I've ever given notice more than maybe once or twice, and those were for part-time jobs....
Oh, no, wait, the hospital data-entry job was full-time and I'd landed a data-entry job at Lotus, so that was a whole going-away party and stuff.
Oh, Cashmere -- the tv commercial you mentioned wanting to get an MPG of? Do you know what shows it has been shown during. If it shows up on one of the ones that I TiVo, I could try to get it transferred to my laptop as an MPG, if I know where to go look for it....

Is that common in California? I know your schedule is always way different from ours. My oldest son's last day of school
before
summer break, is still a week off.
Man, the mystery. Is it a private school, or public? We still have public school teachers who don't know where they'll be in the Fall, if they'll be in the Fall, because the town is having a fiscal crisis of sorts. We're trying to get an override of the property tax increase limit (our Proposition 2 1/2 which I think was originally based on Cali's Prop 13), to fund a level service budget. Fuel prices are through the roof, and heating the buildings this year made us bleed. Also, health insurance rates for all town employees went up. There is a bitter group of people opposing the vote, so it's no done deal.
Right now, my youngest is slated to enter a kindergarten class of 30 students: 23 boys and 7 girls. We expect that to change, probably even if the override doesn't happen, but we honestly don't know. The kids had orientation with a teacher who in all likelihood will not be there teacher come Fall. *sigh* I don't know how teachers don't go off their nuts with all the uncertainty.
I think it was the fact that I was so excited and grinning the whole time.
Good for you!

Again, good for you. My oldest has been blessed with small, small classes, since first grade. In fourth grade, they're combining them into one class, because a couple of kids are moving. It will be somewhere around 25 kids, so large, but not outrageous like the kindergarten. The other teacher is being reassigned to another school in the district. The teacher who is left has a horrible reputation. She's *the* teacher in our school that we consistently hear parents request to avoid. I haven't heard one nice thing about her. She's been in the system for I don't know how long (maybe 40 years), so she has seniority. I suspect if she's anywhere near as bad as we're hearing, she is someone who didn't seek greener pastures when she should have.
Bill Hemmer is leaving CNN and for some reason I'm sad about it.
