"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I broke down and bought my first air conditioner yesterday. I nice little 5000 BTU Frigidaire at Best Buy for 95 incl. tax. I also may be getting another from friends who just bought a house where they can't really use the AC units they have with their windows (they're looking to getting central at this point).

Temps not that bad yet out in Salem - the thermostat keeps telling me it's 76 in the rest of the apt. Not sure I trust it now, but if it erred over the winter, it was that it felt colder than what it was saying, so who knows. I am near two large bodies of water though (the bay and a river), so that may be part of it.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Erk. The kitchen thermometer says it's 88.6 in here. I've been sitting in the living room under the ceiling fan where it's been pretty comfortable. Thank goodness some AC is in my near future.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I have to remember I moved to LA for the average temperature, as well as the highs. Right now, i get jealous of the east coast.

Pancakes and Blue Mountain coffee! I can't work out the keys to texture of this pancake recipe -- yesterday's were very thick, today's more normal. Don't know, but they still taste good.

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

My mom offered me an air conditioner yesterday, but I've got a window fan in my room that works just as well for me. She told my brother that he could take his when he moved to Boston and he was all "No, we'll be fine with a fan."

He has since realized what a small second floor apartment in the city can be like and has changed his mind.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

My indoor temp is 79° right now. If I weren't going to be out of town for most of the summer I'd install a ceiling fan in the living room.

There is a kid across the street making me crazy. He is constantly yelling "Mom!" up at his window from in front of the building. I have to keep resisting the urge to go tell him to go upstairs to talk to her and that he needs the exercise anyway. I don't mind kids making noise while they play, but this is just obnoxious.

We may have just had an earthquake. I need to check whatever that site is.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Oh yeah, that was a quake.

Wow and how much do I love the linky feature when I don't want to format? A lot.

Kewl. It has been made apparent that in any quake with much more of an effect on West LA that I'm going to lose much of my alcohol. I need to think about that.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

It looks like they might have downgraded that a bit-- I saw 2.4
