'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

What? CBS-FM is gone? What will happen to Cousin Brucie?

(Note that I haven't regularly listened to this NYC station in like 20 years... but CB was on it back then. It's like hearing that your great-uncle has been fired.)

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

He was fired. From what I've read, he's gotten a bunch of offers from other stations, though.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Key Lime Pie seems seasonal to me. At least, there are certainly times of year when restaurants that have served it to me in the past don't have it. I'm willing to believe that season is summer.

I don't think I've ever had strawberry pie. When I'm making strawberries into dessert, it's probably gonna be shortcake. Mmmm, shortcake.

"We have trust issues." Mylar

I read in AM New York today that he signed a contract with Sirius.

Sure I went over to the Dark Side, but just to pick up a few things.

Raspberry sorbet or Dairy Queen Blizzard with M&M's

Beach (on an ocean)

I don't listen to current pop music.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

Anybody mathy around? I've got a geometry question I really should be able to get and feel like a doofus about.

Among other things, I apparently can't properly solve the equation y*y + y*y = 1. Which is getting me down, man. Maybe I need more sleep.

Basically, how do I find the area of a hexagon with sides of length x?

y = 1/sqrt(2).

I think I remember geometry.

Is that 2x^2=1? So x=SQRT(2)/2?

Punishingly Intricate

Favorite summer dessert?

Water ice! Also, waterumelon--coconut rum poured over chunked watermelon.

Beach or pool?

Beach, or if that's not possible, the Quarry!

Predictions on the overplayed song of summer '05?

I don't listen to commercial radio at all and even I've heard that Gwen Stefani song. So I'm going with that.

What was your worst family summer vacation?

Oy. Probably the year my parents, aunt, brother and sister-in-law and 2 kids rented a beach house in NC. It actually was mostly fun and relaxing and I loved being with my nieces but my sister-in-law and dad bickered the whole time.

What was your best family summer vacation?

Actually the year before the bad one we rented the same house and my dad only stayed for part of the time and my best friends from here came down for part of the week. Really helped diffuse the tension and we could just enjoy each other and the lounging.

What is this water ice of which you speak? Is it like a sno cone?
