Lilty, I would totally send them a quick e-mail or hand-written note. I'd probably say something like:
Dear So-and-So,
Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know of your company's interest in me. It was encouraging to know that my resume was of interest even though you do not have any positions currently available. Please feel free to keep my resume on file and notify me of other opportunities. I look forward to keeping in touch with you.
Aw, vw, you're too good to me.
How are you doing today?
It totally sounds like Arthur had a fabulous life, Norah.
I'm doing ok. I'm starting to think that maybe I'll run by the hospital on Friday to fill out the paperwork. I think it may be a bit much for today. I'm working for five hours today, so that's gonna be a stretch. Fortunately, most of that time is on the floor with the kids, which in some ways is easier. Chores time is crazy, but the rest of the time we pretty much just hang out and watch tv or chat or whatever.
Thanks, Fay! I think he did.
Thanks for letting me eulogize him a little bit, here. It was really the only place I could think to do so. (sorry, Hec.)
Nora, I'm so sorry about your Arthur.
vw, no leftovers. Actually there were plenty of leftovers, but we seldom bring them home.
Lilty, you know, I almost think you should write that. He'd certainly remember you, and if he has half a sense of humor, you never know but it might make him consider you for further positions.
billytea, I tried googling a few keywords from that puzzle. A few times, I came up with hits that somehow or another involved
The Tempest.
But there's a problem--I've never read it, so I don't know if there's anything to it.

Where's the puzzle from? Maybe more information would make something in it ring a bell.
I'm sorry, Connie. I think the universe need to lay off you guys now. If only I had a lick of influence with the universe.
Sorry about the kitty, Nora. It's always hard.
Lilty, that's a great letter. It's probably worthwhile to thank them for their consideration and occasionally remind them that you exist.

And this is the key to a fruitful job search, IMHO.
I knew I was forgetting something- Connie, WTF? That is so incredibly sucky that I lack the words to express how sucky it is indeed.

It's from one of the people who got back to me. I've googled it already, and I'm pretty sure it's something she made up herself. But if I work out what it means, then I get a date! (At the moment I feel like I'll get one anyway, but this way is more fun.)
