The Dr. Spock books my sister gave me pretty much have the baby on meat by 2 months.
And I know someone who is just now weaning - the kid is 2 years plus. It's not going well. Actually, I know her husband, only have met her a couple times. He seems, well, without getting too judgmental about other people's personal lives, I'm going to say that the wife has been using the baby as an excuse to not have to have sex, and the husband's meekly accepted it.

I have formed no opinions on the timing of weanage.
I just had a nice ranty post about my new pants already starting to fall apart on me and somehow managed to navigate away from b.org and over to Doonesbury while I was typing. I didn't know I could do that.
And I can't stop fiddling with my belt. It's like a ribbon with sparkly D-rings and I really want the ribbon part to lay flat. It's not happening.

Exclusive breast feeding, though, or just extended?
Extended is not entirely abnormal, and I plan on nursing her until she's at least one, but I think almost all kids are on solids by the end of the first year, with most of them hitting that point at about six months.
It's not too bad until meat hits the diet.
Well, my in-laws DID just decide to become vegetarians for a while...
No meat until potty training!
