Spike's Bitches 24: I'm Very Seldom Naughty.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
What I do on the days I don't wash the hair (and amn't in a super hurry, on which days I pin the hair up and don't get it wet at all) is get it wet, then use a leave-in conditioner on it.
But (my turn to testify!) I used to shampoo every day or feel nasty, but now I'm at every two or three (or, on a busy week, four) days and (I think) my hair doesn't go greasy.
If I wet my hair without shampoo or conditioner, it turns into a thin, tangled nest.
Make a vinegar rinse for it! 2 or 3 tablespoons of cider vinegar in a bottle of water, plus a couple drops of whatever essential oil you like. After you get your hair wet, soak it thoroughly with the vinegar rinse, and
do NOT rinse your hair.
(Your hair will not smell like vinegar, I promise.)
It makes your hair soft & shiny. I need to mix up some more for myself.
Ooo, thanks Jilli! I'll have to try that.

And now to bed. Sweet bed...
My only "homework" for the next time I see her is figuring out if I can take classes next semseter and which class it will be. I'm only taking one. If I can take the one hour class that will be perfect (it's united States Constitution).
In Florida? Does Jeb know about this? If you see a lot of things whited-out in the textbook, I'd guess he does.

I am totally trying this.
The just rinsing thing doesn't cut it but I would love to find a way to not have to shampoo every day.
The weird thing is that my hair will often look great in the mornings, it just ends up greasy by midmorning if I don't wash. I wish I could keep that "next day and kinda tousled" look without it getting icky.
I wonder if I have cider vinegar or if I need to stop at the store tomorrow.
Thanks!

Any vinegar will work, but cider vinegar is the least ... startling when you're pouring it over your head.
Unfiltered apple cider? Because it is that or balsamic (I also have apricot balsamic) vinegar. I have no plainish vinegars.
I can't wait to try this.
But in the morning. Because I am going to try and go to bed and sleep now.
Jen, make sure whatever you're washing & conditioning with has no silicones.
It really depends on the texture and thickness of your hair. If your hair is thin, skipping washing it for a couple of days will make it look flat and stringy and gross.
Jen, you're probably not going to like this answer, but if you can go several days without washing your hair, let it get all gross and then after you start shampooing again, go to an every other day schedule, it works great. I did that a couple of years ago and it's worked great. I used to wash my hair every morning, but now I need to wash it only every other day. Unless I've been really sweaty.
I'm guessing you have fairly thick hair, and/or a lot of body, though?
I wash my hair once a week (in between I wet it and run conditioner through it once) and it's great. It's at its best on the second day after washing. The fun thing is after four days untouched it will basically stick in any position you pull it into. My co-workers treat it like a toy. "Is your hair dirty enough today to do the THING?"

Yeah, and this is really important if you have long hair.
