So all of a sudden the jobma kicked in over here too. I got a job offer yesterday, and another one today. But wait! Also today there were two calls inviting me to interview. Gawrsh. It's nice to get a job offer, even for positions nowhere near as lucrative as my late lamented last job.
I said yes to both offers. Silly me. Now I'll have to call one of them tomorrow with abject apologies. How shall I ever choose between the temp job a mere mile from my house, or the interesting job with the silver bead importer, far to the north in West Oakland. At this location I'd have to compete with bridgebound traffic. Probably I'll notice the aroma of the sewage treatment plant directly across the freeway. It's noteworthy that West Oakland is a neighborhood with plenty of skanky wildlife lounging about on the streets. My sister already made me promise that I'll always check the back seat before I hop into my car. Still, it'll be fun to work in an art studio environment in a industrial arts area that has plenty of welders who seem to like making yard art. So far my favorite is the goony-looking giraffes poking out of the roof, but there's plenty more just waiting for me to take a good look.
It took me a long time to get used to getting the car seat in and out, and planning where I could go that would have a cart to put it in, etc.
I deal with the Snug Ride almost daily, when we pick up Paul, and I've had three trips to my OB, two of which were on my own. I'm down with the travel system, know the Bjorn, and have no problems with the sprog wrangle aspect.
My issues are mainly not having anywhere to go where I'd feel comfortable NIP without Paul around to provide a moderate degree of protection for me from potential asswipes. Which is why Reel Moms, despite the fact that the closest theatre is downtown in parking hell, seems like a good idea. It sounds like there are a few theatres with crying rooms, though, so we may have a movie watching trip yet.
My sister called me about the earthquake - and she was informed of it by her relatives in CO.
tonight we watched the tick. this means new tag line
if anyone has a recipe for cherry ice cream - or a fruit ice cream that uses fresh fruit sugar and cream ( no eggs) and can send it to me... or post it I would be greatful. Just don't know enough about ice cream makeing to guess well.
Wow.
Were we down?
For a weeknight, this is quiet.

"Avoid clichés like the plague."
I kind of feel like I need to stand up for the PIRGs. It's not like it's a scam or a cult, it's just a crappy, crappy job, and there's a reason that the only other folks who do stuff like that are doing out of - let's call it religious fervor.
Plei, if you have an upscale mall, or a mall with a Nordie's, that can be a great place to get out. Our Mother of All Malls actually has a couple of nursing rooms as part of their bathroom complex (they also have family bathrooms so daddies can take their 3-year old daughters in to go pee-pee), and Nordstrom's has the nicest lounges in the women's bathrooms that are a good place to nurse. Starting to NIP in places like this can help you feel more confident for more iffy ones in future.
Timelies!
I slept for 12 hours. I guess I was sleepy.
Katie Bee job offers! Yay! Silver beads and welded art sounds fun, West Oakland notwithstanding.
Dammit. Forgot The Tick again.
Happy Birthday, Stephanie!
It's Stephanie's birthday? How did I miss that?!
