Susan, I once broke a toe trying to keep a toddler from improperly rummaging among my books.
Your method sounds a lot safer.

Nope. MO's Dept. of Education requires graduation from an accredited teacher ed. degree program, and an FBI background check in order to receive your state certification.
UMKC's program requires the PRAXIS II subjext area test to be passed before you can graduate.
Mass...hmm, lemme see.
"There are two basic requirements for obtaining an academic Preliminary teacher license in Massachusetts:
A bachelor`s degree Passing scores on the appropriate Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL)"
So, yeah, looks like Mass uses their own test. Now, Schools of Ed. in MAssachusetts might require the Praxis, but I don't know.
Watching Sesame Street isn't going to kill her. It's educational. I haven't watched it in awhile so it may not be educational as it used to be, but still educational.
I'm not an expert on babies or little kids, but I know they do well when they are allowed to do things by themselves and learn how to do little tasks. Plus since your time together is more civilised it's a good chance that's what your interactions will be like when she goes to day care.
My Mom stayed home with us until my brother was in kindergarten. But she took us to a lot of church Mothers Mornings out and things like that. We turned out okay.
Yeah, just double-checked the Praxis site, by state, and Mass isn't on there. They don't use the Praxis.
Just about every other state does, though. Huh. Silly Mass.
AFAICT, the main difference between Sesame Street now and the version of my childhood is Elmo. And Elmo is as annoying as all get-out, but Annabel loves him.
However, just now I was playing the Sean Bean Sci-Fi channel ad that someone linked to on the bean_daily LJ community, and she abandoned Elmo to come stare at the computer.
Hee. You know she's yours.
Any news on Fay? I was kind of hoping that once he sees his choices asshat will back down; cause the cliche about how bullies are often cowards is a cliche for good reason. But this one seems to be psycho too - so not predicting, just hoping.
I've seen lots of chatter on first-year-teacher and new-teacher lj communities about taking PRAXIS, so I was wondering. Thanks!
I've now registered for the subject area test in math, which will take place at the school where I'm assisting. Let the nail-biting commence. I have also downloaded the test booklet and will be boning up on my... aieee! Please tell me they'll give me the formulas on the test. Math teachers aren't expected to have memorized the formula for the sum of an arithmetic series, are they? Or for the lateral surface area of a right circular cone?
I don't think anyone in the history of the universe has retained the formula for the lateral surface of a right circular cone for an appreciable length of time. No one in their right mind would ask you to.
