I am so relieved. It was scary to confront her that way. Now I just have to do the second part which is to help her stay focused on the positive and help find solutions for her real problems.

Actually, sometimes I wonder when reading your posts if we're not the same person (only, you're married with a baby, and I'm single... but, we seem to have similar thought processes). I was away from the board all of yesterday. Boy, did I miss it! Wednesdays I don't get any computer time at work, because I'm supervising the kids. It was kind of fun, though. I had to search a couple of the kids, which felt strange, but I know is necessary. But, mostly, we hung out and chatted, which was fun. Chore time was a little crazy, and I had a little run-in with one of the kids, but he decided not to test me on my first day. I'm sure that won't last, but...

Now I'm drinking my coffee (quickly) so I can get in the shower. I'm supposed to be at work at 10. Blech.

I know everyone is dying to find out how my quest for laundry appliances is going. I realized that if I waited for my paycheck to bedeposited, I'd have more money to spend (duh!) and could get better machines. Today is direct deposit day, but Henry is already committed to installing his mom's fax machine, so I might have to wait until the weekend to shop.

it occurs to me to wonder whether we ever heard how Nick's band did in that Battle of the Bands a few weeks back.

Epic, we haven't heard the results yet. Nick's in one band, his roommate is in another band, both bands are neck and neck. I'll let you know when we have news. His band has played a couple of local shows since he joined, and they're working on learning a song he wrote, so he's pretty happy right now.

Susan, it does feel like a failure when you plan things a certain way and they don't work out, but it isn't. I try to look at it as an opportunity to practice my flexibility. Sometimes that even works. If Annabel does have to go into daycare, she'll be much happier about it than you will, and a happy baby is what's most important in that situation. My current constant gig is with an office that just didn't want to let me go. I work about 10 hours a week for them and if I was able, I could do more. Maybe you'll find a job that, after you've been there a year or so, would be willing to let you telecommute. I hope whatever happens works out the best for you and your family.
