Hey, preaching to the choir. I thought our Lady of the Perpetual Sea Breeze was the real deal until the Divine Miss J walked right through that door and right into my ass—which is where my heart is…physiologically. I could show you an x-ray.

Spike's Bitches 24: I'm Very Seldom Naughty.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

But they started out there.

Oh, okay. That makes sense. I'm not sure where I'd gotten that impression, anyway.

They're lovely.

One day, when I grow up and marry a very rich man¹/win the lottery, I want one.

If I only had a brain...

There are just so many perks to living in Michigan.

No daycare - grandparents.

It might not be a bad idea to make up a pro-con list.

Be sure to list whatever you like about LA -- chicken and waffles, seeing ita, whatever. Do not discount quality of life. It's expensive to live in LA, NYC, SF because you're competing with other people who want to live there.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

$1500 for a 2 bedroom? Note to self: don't move to LA.

It's the same in Somerville. The place Tom and I live in is $1450, 2 bedroom. People are surprised it's so cheap. Third floor walkup.

Herding cats for fun

Today for my Imaginary Vacation, I'm going to sit on Deena's porch reading. We'll throw Pop-tarts at the children occasionally so they'll play quietly. Then the nanny will arrive to take care of everything, while we sneak off to have pedicures and drink alcoholic beverages. Sound OK, hon?

This was very strange: I am sitting here at the 'puter feeling badly due to the very low response rate we're getting for all the resumes we've been sending out. Suddenly the phone rings. I hop up to answer it, saying "Honey! It's a job call for you!"

It was.

Huge, enormous thanks to Gudanov for the referral for Java programmers. Headhunter lady apparently liked what DH said, so his resume will travel onwards to HR. Quick, send ~ma, so we don't have to live off our savings.

Because books.

They're lovely.

Oh yeah. The true ones, with all the built-ins and the wood trim... Sigh.

ION, that reminds me, we dropped off our LAST RENT CHECK last night!!!!

Whoo hoo! That must be a great feeling.

And congratulations to Sophia on the apartment-getting!

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

4 times our mortgage with roughly a third of the square footage. Needless to say, we stopped considering London as an option.

Whimper. The cost really isn't news, but I so want London to be an option.

Woo Hoo!!! Go you. I hope June is nicer to you than you expect it to be.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Great news, KatieBee!

And, yay, Nora, for last rent check excitement!

Are Craftsman houses the ones you could order in kits from Sears? I'm guessing not, but that idea is lodged pretty firmly in my brain.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I thought you guys were planning to go back to MI, Aims.

We are in about 5 years. I just get really homesick sometimes. Usually when I'm pricing tickets to go back for something.

Herding cats for fun

-t, my Imaginary Vacation at your house is going pretty well. You are surprised at how many boxes have been unpacked, stowed, and prettied up. It turns out we have plenty of time for sightseeing, too. Can we go throw a batch of dripping purple verbiage at Anne Rice's house?

Congratulations on the House, Nora. May there always be room for another bookshelf.
