I'm not sure what it says about my life that my first reaction was Oh hey, I could email @loraxofsex and ask her! She'd like the laugh, and I need to check on her emotional state, anyway."

This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.

People are going to look at the list of threads, wonder "What's going on in Fan Fic?", be scarred for life.
If people haven't learned to be wary of sudden fic-thread flareups by now, they may be beyond help.
This is so true.
Though, you know, we could have been talking about what makes a good gen fic, and if we prefer a more literary/internal plot, or more of an action-oriented plot.
Or if we feel our reading habits are problematic.
Or any of the other shit people talk about when they are not talking about Bucky Barnes ramming his metal hand up Steve Rogers' perfect little ass.
To be clear, I would LOVE to talk about those other things, too.
Like, y'know, why is it that I read more slash yet write more het and femslash? Does this say anything about my internalized biases, or does it say that I a: can't find enough femslash to really tip the balance; and b: am hella picky about my het?
What's up with my deep love of problematic things like dubcon and noncon? Why can't I rate a story to save my life? How do you feel about sex pollen and consent tagging? Warnings culture in general?
SHIT LIKE THAT, YOU KNOW.
I do still love talking about the metal arm.
Shit like why was I completely incapable of not clicking on the fic that led to the "dubious consenticles" tag on AO3? (For the record, the fics turned out to be, by and large, much fluffier than one might expect. Should one have expectations regarding fic tagged "dubious consenticles," that is.)

Inappropriate reading material at a young age. I blame/credit V.C. Andrews.

Working through your reaction to rape culture through fic?

Or Lace and Lace II. And yet? Not so much into the incest fic with a handful of exceptions, such as Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters.
dubious consenticles
Best. Tag. Ever.
Clearly, there needs to be dubious consenticles + metal arm somehow. Hydra at one point inserted a trigger that would make the arm's fingers go all octopus-y in certain situations, and it gets accidentally triggered during a sex pollen situation?

Bonus points if Bucky at any point says, "Have you every really looked at your hand? I mean, really looked at it?"
I am curious about my personal choices of both reading and writing less femslash than I feel I "should."
I think the main reason is I still need the mental distance between reactions I'm familiar with in a female body and the reactions I've experienced producing on a male body. That, and a lack of well-written femslash that appeals to my fantasy preferences.
