I just finished a long story called "Plot Holes." It pointed out things like "You haven't used saying 'Cristo' to identify demons since 2005, or "You should be in 2015, judging by the time you've spent on earth, but it's only 2013 (fic time)."
And? The story did absolutely nothing with it except to start internally referring to seasons (without referring to the episode where SPN is a TV show--I think it was written before that), and even characters not in the analysis of the SPN books, unrelated bad guys who just got here from the fifties start talking about their lives in terms of seasons and character arcs and other similar language.
Fine. The show fucked up. But guess what? The fic didn't fix it. It didn't even explain it. It was a very long case file with complaining stuck in once every couple chapters.
I also notice no one refers to Gamble unless it's to say how bad and OOC her season was. She did some fun and some heartbreaking things, and I feel like not being part of the boys' club worked against her in too many eyes.
One day, maybe, we'll see a fic name an institution over her. One day.
