I've never heard it as an allusion to suicide before.
A gallows made from two uprights and a cross-beam is a "two-legged mare." A triple gallows like the Tyburn Tree is a "three-legged mare."
I don't recall a nickname for a gallows with a single upright and a braced arm, though.

So...what kind of theoretically positive comment makes you feel not positive? I did my due "llama badge thanking" diligence on dA this morning (dA weird, I don't know what llama badges are for), and the person started messaging me. Which is fine. But one of the messages said that they were aroused (I may be fudging the word, but it was a boner word (he's a he (why am I calling him they then???))) by my art.
I...I don't want to know about your responses of any genitalia to my work, llama-badge-giving-person. I know what the putative effect can be, but I don't want to be part of that conversation with strangers.
It just...I'd rather he hadn't told me. It's not like a tag on a reblog, or anything. It wasn't even attached to a picture.
