I don't fancy spending the next month trying to get librarian out of the carpet.

Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?

This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.

On a tangent, why doesn't someone do a reboot of that property?

There's a movie in the works. I think Denzel has the Robert McCall role.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I wrote Pacific Rim fic. Because Hannibal Chau made me clap my hands with glee. [link]

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I have to say, I am grateful for the floodgates that Pacific Rim opened for all fandoms. It's a fusion flavour that seems to taste great with everything. I haven't actually read straight-up PR fic yet though, so this should be fun!

Ron Perlman really was fantastic.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

The crossover PR fic that is out there is so cracky and good! Someone wrote a short MCR/Pacific Rim fic that is just delightful.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

(Opens link to Jilli's fic in new tab)

There are just so many wonderful cracky opportunities for PR crossovers. The one that I would love to see is a Black Books crossover with Bernard and Manny as Jaeger pilots. Because you know that would end well...

Bernard: So the kaijuu snuck past while I was napping and flattened half of Liverpool. I don’t see what they’re so upset about - it’s the most civic improvement Liverpool’s had in years!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Do you think stories that are tagged with a ship where they never get together (and in fact end up with other people) should be tagged something like "no A/B endgame"? Or even more than that, since there's nothing other than a single admission of attraction in three chapters?

Whether the ending is happy or sad for them, do you feel the average fic-reader is "owed" (loaded word used purposely) warning?

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

That's not an easy one to answer, ita_!. I mean, I do not view other writers as my bitches, who must write what I want or suffer consequences. On the other hand, I think I would feel cheated by the tag. I mean, if I go hunting for A/B ship fic, click on something with the A/B tag, and haul in something where they don't actually have a relationship, it's hardly fair. I do not consider one mention of attraction in a multi-chapter work a relationship.

If it's tagged as a ship, I would expect a ship. A/B I would see as a ship. "A & B" I would interpret as A & B interacting a lot and their relationship, whatever it is, being a focus. I've seen some Avengers fic labeled "Steve & Tony non-ship" just for clarity.

And the more I think about it, the more I would feel that the A/B tag without the "no A/B endgame" was deliberate bait and switch unless it was otherwise clearly warned of in the summary or something.
