Dana, I was just reading that! (But I have Seperis on my flist, and she just posted about it.)
Yet another reason to be glad I got out of SPN, I guess. But I did like Peg Kerr's post about DAYD, even if she did miss the way Neville became the Stu-iest of all the Martys.
This is fascinating. I think I read about some of this before, but I didn't remember a lot of it. Or I might be thinking about another person.
In so many of the comments, people are saying how he always picks the craziest fandoms to join, but ... aren't the craziest fandoms generally just the biggest? I don't actually know, but it doesn't seem like you ever hear of a niche fandom that's really insane. Maybe that's because you just never hear about them?
Well, if he decided to join and pick up the canon Destiel baton, he won't stand out. if he wants wank, there needs to be a fringe stance, doesn't there, if not another shooting or disease?
Huh. The HiloBrow is holding a fanfiction contest:

No more than 1,000 words, and one of the judges is Denise from DW (aka Synecdochic).
Entries will be reviewed blind.
It's so tempting to write something based on 50 Shades of Grey, just for giggles.
Do a 50 Shades/Wide Sargasso Sea fusion!
I am vexed by the use of "a fanfiction."
Speaking of fic, apparently Rebecca Tushnet of the OTW was interviewed on On the Media this past week: they did an episode on intellectual property issues, and she talked about fanfiction.
I will probably listen to it on my way home, since OTM is one of my regular podcasts.
I just listened to that today. Good points well-stated.
eta: It was a little weird to have the "That's so weird, since I get their emails...Wait...I'm in some of those fandoms..." I'm not used to my real life being a couple degrees removed from national media (my home town has been on TDS a couple times now), but I'm REALLY not used to my Internet life being that close.
