Giles: Stop that, you two. Riley: He started it... Xander: He called me a bad name! I think it was bad; it might have been Latin.

'Selfless'

Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?

This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Cross-posting from the SPN thread: just stumbled across an announcement for an mpreg BB. And I am simply baffled.

Is it a kink to see a man preggers, or is it more a fifteen year olds (/iz mean) fantasy to have bebbies and mpreg is the stylish solution when slashing men?

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

>now she's complaining about how long my chapters are

I've had that one! Another commenter said, "No, they're not long enough!"

How long should a chapter be? It should be long enough to immediately precede the next one.

More the first, I think.

I think that's an unnecessarily reductionist interpretation. Mpreg has a long history in fandom, and there probably are as many reasons for writing it as anything else. From kink to exploring alien biology to subconsciously applying a heteronormative framework on a gay relationship to actively fucking with the gender binary.

Plus the "let's force the tough guy to be nurturing" thing.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Don't forget the body horror--that's the most cited factor of appeal that I've read in discussions of the topic.

Yep.

With mpreg, sometimes you get charming Good Omens fic... and sometimes you get assbabies. There's a lot of range.

Hi, I think I strongly desire to run away to Chicago and marry you right now.

(Your spicy brain explanation was actually hotter than most of the MPreg I've read.)

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

David Hewlett just tweeted:

"How can the Ultimate Slash Madness Tourney NOT be going McShep's way!?"

With a link to the voting. There's an emoticon I'm looking for, what is it...
