Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I adore that he's going to med school. I mean, he's been characters I love but he's also this actual person and, hey, go follow your dream and have a real life. I am totally in support of that.

I think John is a great character. He's one of my favourites in terms of how messed up he is.

I thought, "like Batman!"

I think he had all the best intentions, but was rabidly monomaniacal in a very Batmanish way--he just didn't have to outsource orphans. He grew his own.

And then you mentioned it.

He made a lot of mistakes. A lot of them. But I don't see him as an overall bad guy. I think he was flawed as a father, sure. They weren't exactly the Brady's. But I still like the character of John and think he falls way further on the side of good.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Ha! There actually happened to be a vid in Nearly New show during Vividcon that was dedicated to Peter Wingfield, set to Live and Let Die: [link]

Not deep, but enjoyable nonetheless. And good on him that he's pursuing his other dreams.

ita, I still really have a thing for John Winchester. Some googling or delicious searches might find my John Winchester Defense Post off Doom... (I'm on the road using my phone or I would give you the l link directly...)

Also I wrote two stories which might be seen as John defenses...

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

For those who are fans of the Eleventh Doctor and Sherlock (BBC version), there is a brilliant crossover by radio_silent called The Watchman. It's a WIP, but the story is finished with just three more chapters to post. She's posting one chapter a day.

Summary: When the Doctor shows up outside of 221B, John finds his loyalties tested—and his entire world turned upside down.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Some of the SuperWhoLock (I basically consider Letmartyhandlethis the canonical source thereof, though she hasn't done much lately and tried to put Merlin in it) hinges on a young Moriarty having met the Doctor (Ten, I think) and him never having come back for him, and that being part of the reason he's such a twisted fuckup.

I love the characterisation in this little bit of SuperWho: [link] .

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I can't say that I'm totally satisfied with the DW/SH fusion fic, but the premise was totally, absolutely brilliant.

I think I'm unsatisfied because I want more. Especially given the point they ended it at.

Okay, so I read this Teen Wolf fic despite the pairings, because the premise is: Stiles goes on a murderous rampage and kills everyone in Beacon Hills whose name you ever knew-- [link]

Which is nice and gruesome, and does pretty good things with the deaths of each person, but...why Stiles? I can't really be horrified by it because there's no plausible reason given for him to do it, and the idea that it's creepier if I come up with my own reason....nope. I got nothing. It's less twisted if Peter Hale did it all, but...at least he might.

Also, if a demon possessed Stiles and did this, it's not Stiles, and you need to paint me his pain of seeing the whole thing. And you didn't. So, again, I feel remarkably untouched. Which feels like a shame.

I don't know if folks here read much Avengers movieverse fic, but here's a Steve/Tony story that I just had to rec while I'm still in the warm glow of reading it: [link]
