Zoe: What's that, sir? Mal: Freedom, is what. Zoe: No, I meant what's that? Mal: Oh. Yeah. Just step around it. I think something must've been living in here.

an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

Uh, is anyone around who'd be willing to history-check my Yuletide once it gets written? I don't actually know anything much about the Napoleonic Wars, India during the same period, or Wellington, but I think I'll need to in order to write the story I want. So if anyone knows more than me about those topics, I would vastly appreciate the help.

(Also, I bet y'all can guess what I'm writing from those details.)

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Shorter Holli: Paging Susan W!

(Umm, just so my little joke does not stop Holli from getting help, we have a number of Buffistas who know the Napoleonic wars. But if Susan has time, due to her novels about the period, she has done huge amounts of research on the subject.)

Trust my rage

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. Even if Susan's not around, I bet she knows as much as any historical scholar of the era.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I can also take a look at it, Holli, though admittedly most of my knowledge comes from Master and Commander and the Temeraire books.

Considering my Yuletide assignment, that is just about perfect. Would you mind hopping on IM for a minute? I want to run the idea by you and see if you think it's workable. I'm hollimicheleh on AIM.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

I am Yuletide-ing this year for the First! Time! Ever! and am verrrrrrrrrrra excited. I may need some Canadian-picks, but I think I've got the rest of it under control.
