Jilli, google up Laura Shapiro's webpage. Some of her stuff is slashy, but generally not the more recent stuff. And there are few vidders who edit better than Laura does.

For those of you who enjoy giving recs, or maybe just like taking polls: phaballa on lj is running a poll on The Best Fic Ever. You can only give one title, and it can be in any fandom (she'd also appreciate an explanation of why you picked that particular story). She's looking for "...the best piece of fanfiction you have ever read. This is not necessarily your FAVORITE, although I suppose it could be. I want you to consider: which fanfic was so well-done that you were just stunned by its brilliance? Which one made you feel something deeper than the usual? I ended up listing Kodiakke Max's In the Company of Ghosts. Because Farscape needs some love, and it really is an astonishingly brilliant story.

Normally requests like that would make me twitchy about choosing but one story came immediately to mind, so I went and listed it. It's not one I casually rec ever but it's That Story.
