Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?

This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

I'm right with you, Fay. Fandom has truly finished the job of warping my mind.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Big Bang stories? What are these?

Large stories. I'm sure the definition varies from fandom to fandom, but usually at least 10,000 words.

vanguard of the socialist Hollywood liberal homosexualist agenda

For SPN and bandom this year, the limit was 20,000 words. Signups were in January, and the stories were due at the beginning of May.

I'm not sure what all fandoms have one.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

There is an unbelievable amount of stuff up for auction here:

[link]

Tons of fanfic, but also jewelry, books, baked goods, language lessons, critiques by published authors (like Elizabeth Bear and Rachel Manija Brown) -- just tons of cool stuff.

It's a fannish fundraiser for equal marriage rights. "The auction will raise money for the fight against the California initiative which will legally destroy existing same-sex marriages and ban any further ones. If the initiative passes, it will write discrimination into the state constitution, annull existing marriages, and make Mr. Sulu cry."

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

One of the best stories I've seen in some time. [link]

The Kids Are All Right, a character study of Tony Stark (Iron Man) as a Vanity Fair article. Also, a fairly devastating geopolitical analysis, to boot.

SGA folks: this is the same writer who gave us Your Cowboy Days Are Over, if that helps.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

I like the whole thing, but I especially like the sheer nerve of this sentence: "We are all, to some extent, the sum of our dichotomies, but in Stark the inconsistencies have reached a cartoonish paroxysm. "

[Edit] Don't want to imply that this is the best thing about the work as a whole. it is freakin brilliant. But that sentence stands out for nerve, for sheer chutspa.

I've met the writer, and I can say authoritatively that she does not lack in chutzpah. *g*

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I've been posting a few Doctor Who fic links over in Boxed Set. Is anyone interested in having me post them here? I've been limiting them to BS, because there seems to be less of a crossover between here and there than with other show threads. Except maybe SG-1/SGA. Then I got to thinking, there's a lot of folks watching the show who don't go into BS, so they don't get spoiled for other shows. Should I start posting them over here, too/instead?

Whaddaya think?

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Yes. Yes you should.
