I've been out of the abbey two days, I've beaten a lawman senseless, I've fallen in with criminals. I watched the captain shoot the man I swore to protect. And I'm not even sure if I think he was wrong.

Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

So lyrical-but-specific description of sex might be R, whereas a raunchier description would be NC-17.

Yes, this. I think, if the sex happens onscreen, it's R: if all the parts are named, it's NC-17. *g*

To me, NC-17 is step-by-step descriptions of sex with full descriptions of fluids and anatomy. R doesn't have to be lyrical (ie, poetic), but there's more of a focus on the personal interaction and less on the hydraulics. I've seen some violence I'd call NC-17: careful descriptions of torture or dismemberment and such.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Anybody know any good archives or recs lists or whatever for Star Wars original trilogy (and possibly expanded universe - novels and comics) fic?

I need a macro that says "Have you checked the crack_van recs?"

Hey. New board.

I did, but the main post it linked to focuses almost entirely on various slash pairings, the vast majority of which don't do anything for me in the original trilogy. Also, the main poster apparently dislikes Leia/Han (sacrilige!) and also considers the Expanded Universe out of bounds, killing the possibility of Karrde and Mara Jade fics, or Corran Horn, or any serious Wedge, et cetera.

I did find a couple of decent stories in there, but nothing that really grabbed me anywhere as much as Yahtzee's stuff.

I might have to haul a bunch of my expanded universe novels out to NYC the next time I go home. I sort of miss them. I can reminisce about when the stuff that wasn't the original trilogy was, on the whole, still quite excellent. Barring a couple of the novels I'd much rather forget.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Hmm. I am reminded, thanks to this NC-17 discussion, has anyone found any Snyder/Quark out there?

I'm sure I've asked before, and no, I don't know why I want it.

I suspect the Holodeck would be involved. And ear-twisting torture.

Oh, crap. I am NOT going to watch DS9 again to write this. Please to be killing the bunny.

Someday, I will find a pairing that causes you to recoil in horror, in retaliation for the images you've just put in my mind.

You mean, other than Angel/Cordy?

I found one once! I don't remember wat it was, but I suggested something that made her go Eww. I was very proud.

I'm aiming for something that will give me a non-pyrrhic victory, as Angel/Cordy repulses me at least as much as it does you. Remember during the "giving him something real" scene, when most of the crowd was screaming "MY EYES!!!" and running for the Lethe's bramble and we were hi-fiving each other that the writers had just put up an insurmountable obstacle to A/C?

Oh, hell yeah.

Honestly, the A/C block put into place by C/C is probably the reason it's one of the Best Canon Ships Ever in my book.
