And now my boy's in love. All hearts and flowers. But, doesn't it freak you out that she used to change your diapers? I mean, when you think about it, the first woman you boned is the closest thing you've ever had to a mother. Doing your mom and trying to kill your dad. Hm. There should be a play.

Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?

This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

CarPreg - totally SPN, right?

Totally.

OMG! Where's the Impala/KITT?? It should exist, if it doesn't!

And when you realize these Warties are serious in their Wartie discussions and Wartie fic writing and not other sockpuppets your friends invited, things will get awkward.

Too true.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I remember being somewhat put off by all the Dangerous Ancient Transforming Machine of the Week trope stories that were rife in SGA fandom a couple of years ago.

Then came the Ascend or Die Machine and the Exploding Tumor Metastasizer...

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I have this icon with the text "Canon, it's the new black", because it's so true, Matt! And not just on SGA. There are so many shows that smell so ficcy.

And now I'm trying to come up with something that I cannot conceive of anyone really latching onto...

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

And I read far schmoopier pairings that a lot of people like , like Spike/Buffy, Josh/Donna (from WW), Pacey/Joey, Ryan/Summer (from the OC, Luke/Loralai. In slash, my new crack is Luke/Noah, from As the World Turns, and Matt/Mohinder, and wincest. I want most of my fic to be big and romantic, but frankly, I will read anything

Sophia, we are a lot alike. I love Josh/Donna, Luke/Lorelai, Matt/Mohinder. I have no doubt if I were home during the day, I'd be watching As the World Turns for the Big Gay Teen Love story.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

CarPreg

I'm afraid to go look. They didn't go the *batteries not included route, did they?

Your brain. It frightens me.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Remember though - I am only about 5 months into even reading fic.

But I am quite sheltered. Or at the very least, vanilla. I'll avoid a story because it has a tag that seems gross and ew and I don't want do that myself let alone read about Sirius/Neville doing it and then I'll look up the term and go, "OH! I've totally done that!" And then feel dumb for a minnit and then read on.

Fic is a strange and fascinating place for me.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

The problem with this is that if you create a wartiefic community on LJ, populate it with sockpuppets, toss up an intro post and some drabbles, and maybe stage a flame war between the fictional community moderator and an equally fictional wart-hater, actual Warties eventually will show up and rejoice that they finally have a community of their own. And when you realize these Warties are serious in their Wartie discussions and Wartie fic writing and not other sockpuppets your friends invited, things will get awkward

Crumbs, it's funny 'cuz it's true!

But I am quite sheltered. Or at the very least, vanilla.

...of all the fandoms to be in, HP is an hella impressive place to manage to stay vanilla. HP fic scares me! (Well, y'know, the prospect of going looking for it - recs from people I trust, that's another matter. Just been re-reading Hackthis's Alias/HP AU Trade, in which Julian Sark is Draco's twin brother, actually working undercover for Her Majesty's government. And Draco runs an escort service. It is fabulous. Although it was written back in the days when Blaise's gender was a known quantity, but his appearance was entirely a matter for speculation.)

Plei, I was listening to SA's readings of your stories yesterday! Or at least, the Buffy/Faith one. Damn. Much hotness.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

OMG! Where's the Impala/KITT?? It should exist, if it doesn't!

I swear I have seen this. Might be worth a delicious search to be sure.

What worries me is that people are already talking about Connorcest. There is not enough eww in the world.

I did however start thinking on the way home about the many many ways Sarah Connor and John Winchester are alike, including the fact they they each changed their lives and became lifelong warriors on the basis of one single incident that 99.9% of people will never believe happened. Interesting stuff there...
