You know about Wingfic right?
Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?
This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.
It's really not as fun to say "but did you read the one where they're CENTAURS?!" when Aimée only reads in a fandom where there are canonical centaurs.
Oh, you have no idea.
Heck, I tend towards gen these days.
With a side of het and slash (less femslash than usual, sadly, at least in my Primary Fandom).
(Of course, in my Secondary Fandom, I've got this strong need to find good het, which is hard, but at least possible. I've basically given up on finding much, or any, femslash or slash in it.)
(DESPITE THE CANON HAVING A LESBIAN OF ITS OWN. WTF, FANDOM?? WTF???)
(Not that I'm bitter.)
(Much.)
SERIOUSLY????
Dude. We're operating in a fandom where it's basically canon that one of the lead characters has a car as a life partner. Seriously.
:: wonders where all these Herbie The Love Bug fans have been hiding out ::
At this point, I think we should invent our own bizarro-world subgenres of fic, and convince everybody that they're thriving subcultures all about... warts. Or stories where Our Heroes can't talk out loud and have to use a combination of telepathy, ASL and mime.
(Actually, I should say that illness stories -- What cool and exciting new bug can lay Our Hero low? How long will Our Other Hero angst at Our Hero's bedside before the fever breaks? What symptoms and consequences will be described in incredibly dull and extended detail? -- already exist, as a subgenre; they just don't have the kind of weirdness traction that wings have.)
Actually, Aimee, I tend to like het as well. Unless I don't. And I read far schmoopier pairings that a lot of people like , like Spike/Buffy, Josh/Donna (from WW), Pacey/Joey, Ryan/Summer (from the OC, Luke/Loralai. In slash, my new crack is Luke/Noah, from As the World Turns, and Matt/Mohinder, and wincest. I want most of my fic to be big and romantic, but frankly, I will read anything

The problem with this is that if you create a wartiefic community on LJ, populate it with sockpuppets, toss up an intro post and some drabbles, and maybe stage a flame war between the fictional community moderator and an equally fictional wart-hater, actual Warties eventually will show up and rejoice that they finally have a community of their own. And when you realize these Warties are serious in their Wartie discussions and Wartie fic writing and not other sockpuppets your friends invited, things will get awkward.
Re: CarPreg. I just googled it.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! HONK!
