'The Killer In Me'

Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?

This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.

brillig

the only thing with Unidentified is we don't know why Rodney had his problems.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

The author talks about the timing in comments, which kind of gives a clue.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Okay, this might have been rec'd already, but OMG, it's good:

Coda to an Epilogue

Follows HPatDH seamlessly, and it's a plotty gen story in which Draco and Harry have to rescue their respective offspring from alligator-infested sewers underneath Durmstrang. Absolutely killed me with its characterisation of the various kids and with the look at social change in the Wizarding World. Draco and Harry are wonderfully in character, as are all the various kids.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Crackfic! [link] About as far from the last rec here as you can get and still be using the same characters. It had me laughing my ass off.

What if John did end up marrying Mara and becoming Lord Protector in the Tower ?

By the third day of John’s rule, the villagers have come to a consensus that democracy is either:
a) Rule by demon
b) Anarchy
c) Part of an intergalactic empire
d) All of the above

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

The fanfic-related section of my DragonCon report:

Went to DragonCon. Went to slash panel. Got CARDED on the way in the door (panel was at 11:30PM). Stayed for five minutes. Left when people started breaking out sex toys.

Also, the moderator of the Stargate track invited ALL OF THE GUESTS to the freaking slash panel. shrift and I were unable to sink directly into the floor, but we tried.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Left when people started breaking out sex toys.

...

I'm sorry, WHAT? They did what? Why on earth did they feel the need to break out the sex toys?

I think they were door prizes. I couldn't tell, since I was frantically trying to open said door. Which wouldn't open from the inside.

Thrive to spite them

!!!???!!!!

Seriously people. Boundaries (for the guests being invited). And why sex toys? Why.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Uh.... okay? In the annals of reasons I stay away.

Seriously. Who is fandom's ambassador? And how can we have that person fired?

Jilli speaks for me, because I have lost the power of speech.

...

...not that I'm anti-That Kind Of Thing*, mind. (I mean, I thoroughly enjoyed The Vagina Monologues and ended up going drunkenly shopping for rude things with my friends afterwards.) But - but - sheesh. That would be decidedly outside my comfort zone.

I mean, maybe if it were a Porn Panel, I guess this would be more fitting (although, frankly, still outside my comfort zone, unless everyone was sloshed) but I'd be expecting a panel about slash to be about writing and subtext, rather than for it to be some kind of Geeky Anne Summers Party.

(...do you folks have Anne Summers Parties?)

*as Father Ted would put it.
