And there's Yahtzee's "Goodnight Moon," aka "the story that made fandom weep like little bitches."
Oh God, that one made me tear up despite never having watched an episode. I think it's probably the best piece of fanfiction I've ever read.
I never rec a story before I've read it in its entirety, but I'm breaking that rule for "Unidentified" by fiercelydreamed. SGA AU, and
t flails uncontrollably
Heh. That's a good enough rec for me, Matt.
There's an epilogue to that that was just kind of staggering as well. I'm sure it's linked in there someone, but just so you don't forget to look for it.
It's there, "Coda," on the index page. Thanks for the heads up, Brenda. And thank you too, Matt.
That Coda rocks so very, very hard.
Oooh, there's a coda. Cool.
I liked Unidentified, yeah. Good story, and it gave the rest of the cast something interesting to do, unlike so many AUs, where the rest of them don't even exist.
Fireball did that, too, again quite nicely.
the only thing with Unidentified is we don't know why Rodney had his problems.
The author talks about the timing in comments, which kind of gives a clue.
Okay, this might have been rec'd already, but OMG, it's good:
Coda to an Epilogue
Follows HPatDH seamlessly, and it's a plotty gen story in which Draco and Harry have to rescue their respective offspring from alligator-infested sewers underneath Durmstrang. Absolutely
killed
me with its characterisation of the various kids and with the look at social change in the Wizarding World. Draco and Harry are
wonderfully
in character, as are all the various kids.
Crackfic! [link] About as far from the last rec here as you can get and still be using the same characters. It had me laughing my ass off.
What if John did end up marrying Mara and becoming Lord Protector in
the Tower
?
By the third day of John’s rule, the villagers have come to a consensus that democracy is either:
a) Rule by demon
b) Anarchy
c) Part of an intergalactic empire
d) All of the above
