Mal: You tell me right now, little Kaylee, you really think you can do this? Kaylee: Sure. Yeah. I think so. 'Sides, if I mess up, not like you'll be able to yell at me.

Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?

This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Henry Jenkins on fanvids, specifically Killa and T. Jonesy's "Closer", which has been circulating around the internet:

That's a good post. Thanks for the link, Dana.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Good article! Cheers for the link.

Meanwhile (and this isn't really a fanfic thing, sorry) having got my hot little hands on Black Powder War at a Bangkok bookshop I finished it over the weekend (spent on the gorgeous little island of Ko Samet) and nipped over to comment at Naomi Novik's LJ (having been quite gripped - I think it may have been my favourite one to date) and HOLY CRAP, BATMAN, PETER JACKSON HAS ACQUIRED THE RIGHTS TO THE TEMERAIRE BOOKS!!! Did you all know this already? I bet you did. But - holy CRAP!!! Nice one!

Er. Anyway, my tenuous reason for mentioning this in the fanfic thread is that Black Powder War left me wanting fic. Any links?

I bop to Wittgenstein. -- Nutty

On edit: never mind, turns out to be a proxy server problem.

Where-- if it exists-- is the good, or indeed any, Hellblazer fic? I'm only just starting to explore the canon, but I'm not worried about being spoiled. What I'm not really interested in, though, is movie-based fic.

Fay, the place to look for fic is the LJ community the_covert. The only one I recall reading is an SGA crossover in which Sheppard is a member of the Airborne Corps. It's actually quite cool--ISTR the writer was Harrietspy...

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

I'm not Fay, but thanks for the pointer, Consuela!

Hee. For reference, Supernatural is generally abbreviated SPN, so as not to be confused with Sports Night.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

sumi, there's been a move recently into that neat art + words = artfic space, where you get cool stuff like that comic. I love it.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Doing something totally out of character, the man instead of assessing the new arrivals and taking mental inventory of who they were, took in the beauty and looks of the woman. He observed from behind his dark glasses the shapely figure, tall and nubile that encased Nikita, and drowned in the blue pools of her expressive eyes while being blinded once more by the sparkle of her golden hair. He controlled his need by pressing a decorative pillow on his newly awakened lap and though himself a cad for having such impure thoughts after just recently gaining his eyesight.
