Cacophony.  That's pretty.  What's it mean?

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

Between that and The Roads Never Lead Where They're Supposed to Go, the fandom has been rocking the funny-as-hell crackfic lately.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Oh, yeah, that's just an insanely fun crackfic of a story. I enjoyed it a lot.

But I feel obligated to cheer for the gen adventures, since they seem to be comparatively rare in this fandom. Yay gen!

I love this bit in particular:

"I'll get you for this, Rodney McKay," Carson shouted up at him, raising his fist.

"What, are you a cartoon villain now?" Rodney called back. "Go through the goddamn stargate already, Doctor Claw."

If I only had a brain...

Mighty is the fandom_wank. Somebody's done a Does Doctor Who Have Sex? bingo card. (spun off spoiler rumors for Season 2, but I don't think the card itself is spoily)

Art Crawl!!!

If the First Doctor had a granddaughter, doesn't that suggest that sex was had at some point?

One of the arguments is that Susan wasn't really his granddaughter. (Personally, I prefer to assume that relationship was exactly what they said it was)

OMGWTF! Someone wrote an SG-1/Atlantis AU in Bryan Fuller's Dead Like Me universe: [link]

Wrod. He may not have boinked any of the other Companions, who were all lesser beings anyway, but Romana was a fellow Time Lord.

Though I wouldn't put it beyond the realm of possibilty that Leela ambushed him out of boredom.

Always Anti-fascist!

OK, so I'm writing this fic that hinges on pennyroyal being poisonous. And I got some good info on what the reaction is like from some re-enactor lady at little_details, but what kind of treatment would these women get at the hospital?

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

A nice case report & review of the literature on pennyroyal poisoning from Annals of Internal Medicine: [link] It sums up all the reported cases of different severity in tables, and gives an overview of the issues & treatment.

To wit: in minor cases, it causes abdominal cramping and perhaps some neurological toxicity, but the major danger of pennyroyal toxicity is the threat of liver failure. The recommended treatment for pennyroyal poisoning is similar to the treatment for tylenol overdose (probably the most common toxin-mediated liver failure), i.e. gastric lavage with activated charcoal (stomach pumping) ASAP after ingestion, administration of "N-acetylcysteine," preferrably intravenously, which may serve as the substrate for the toxic metabolite of the compound and help bind it out, plus supportive care. I suppose, as it is the case with tylenol overdose, if the liver fails irrevocably and the patient is neurologically intact, then he/she may be a candidate for liver transplantation.
