Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace. And part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. She really wanted it. Every Slayer has a death wish. Even you.

Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?

This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.

If I only had a brain...

I realized I was on your FL already; somehow I just missed the fic. (Or maybe I was avoiding it for fear of spoilers.)

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

It's sort of like popslash for grownups.

Popslash is for grownups!

At the point I entered the board, I was in the process of divesting myself from my given name and putting together SA. For better or worse, that's my name, both on and offline. I suppose I worked too hard to embrace my name to sacrifice it for a pseud.

Always Anti-fascist!

  • So* tempted to write Doc/Jewel Deadwood fic. But if I want to write for myself, I can just write about my stupid life.
Would anyone read it?

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

For those who remember Martha Wilson's SGA/SG-1 crossover Retrograde (probably the best gen story posted in either fandom in the last year), she's posted a sequel, Recovery. Gen, but for grownups, and full of her trademark plotting, banter, and rock-solid characterizations. Highly recommended.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Seconded. Pretty good stuff.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I think I've been scarred for life:

McKay blanched. "I'm sorry… I'm a genius, but I'm unable to master my heart.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Like McKay ever said "sorry" without irony in his life. I would remember, because I would have howled at his hilarious Canadian accent.

Punishingly Intricate

(probably the best gen story posted in either fandom in the last year)

Stupid Question Time: this has been bugging me for a while but I've been too lazy to ask. What is "gen"?
