I've not seen any in the places I frequent, although plenty of discussion is going on. I'd suggest keeping an eye out for the celebrity section of the What's New? page at nifty.org... that seems the most likely place for it to crop up.
Fleshing out untouched parts of the timeline in Annie Proulx's story has to be a bit daunting given the current pedigree of the story, but I'm sure there are writers out there somewhere who wouldn't be intimidated. (Good writers may be less certain, however...)

When somebody says something like this, is it understood where this fic is? Not that I particularly want to read this specific story but it seems like there may be some secret storehouse and if you know you know and if you don't um... you have to ask. I'm just curious. I don't read a ton of fic but sometimes I get a hankering and I wonder how everybody knows how to find things.
