Someone on Twitter pointed it out or I'd never have noticed it myself. The commitment to the conceit by everyone is just a delight.

So I found a story on AO3 that isn't plagiarizing word for word, but taking some specific scenes from at least 2 different stories and rewriting them. And it's not like common things that happen in Supernatural or even common things that happen in AUs (this is an au) that you see like a meet cute type situation. It's more like specific scenes from, I think 2 different stories, have been taken and rewritten into this one.

How close does something have to be for it to be plagiarism?

Sounds close enough to me. I'd at least notify the authors.

I messaged the 2 authors, I hope I'm wrong about this.

I heard from the authors, both are aware of the story, the person who had the most ideas lifted knows the person and it seemed like they wanted to be flattered by it but were also kind of miffed by it but hadn't said anything because they didn't want to embarrass the writer.

There's some controversy online about the OTW election, it's a little unclear to me but one of the board candidates is in favor of censorship? I haven't been paying attention as I'm not a paying member right now.

I have been kind of following that on tumblr and trying to figure out what is going on.

From what I can tell there is one person, Tiffany, who has said somethings about wanting to restrict content on AO3 or removing content because AO3 volunteers are called pedophiles and also because of some of the content and she's also Chinese and works in IT as tech support for a governmental organization. It looks like she is worried about how AO3 is seen , partly because of the ban in China, which is more complicated than I assumed.

And this has people worried about having an anti on the board who will push censorship in general and try to take over the board and turn it into FF.net situation. Other people are worried that she works for the Chinese government and that she is somehow going to be able to dox Chinese fans who get around the ban.

There are other people who are worried she'll push the agenda of antis and go from censoring what is seen as child porn and into censoring other content and that by Tiffany being on the board it will be the first step to a take over of the board. Or just a take over. I'm not sure.

Have the election results been posted? Did Tiffany succeed in getting elected?

I've been distracted and late catching up on the controversy. And defaulted on voting.
