Speaking of podcasts, I've just discovered "Be the Serpent," where three women discuss fanfic, tropes, literature, and a bunch of other stuff. I've listened to 2.5 episodes so far, and I love it. The podcasters are Alexandra Rowland, Freya Marske, and Jennifer Mace. So far they've discussed robot boners, Le Guin's "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas," Anne McCaffrey, and Hogwarts sorting.
Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?
This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.
I am both less fannish and less social than I used to be. (shrug) Sign of the times, I think. Maybe if the country regains a more familiar landscape and atmosphere I can think of those things again. Maybe spring will help. Hopefully this hibernation of spirit will produce some blossoms and ideas and connections when things warm and brighten again.
Be the Serpent introduced me to the show Person of Interest. I've read all of Astolat's PoI fic twice. If anyone has any further recommendations, I'd love to see them, please. The whole smart, geeky guy/tortured badass combo is totally my catnip. See SGA, certain Marvel combos, etc.
I assume you know to check PolyRecs?
I knew but did not remember. It's been so long since I looked into a new-to-me, established fandom. Thanks, Dana!
Why isn't there an Anthy/Beast(or Anthy&Beast) fic called You Did So Promise Me a Rose Garden ?
walks to the blackboard to write "I will not be dragged into the never-ending Ao3 purity wankfest" over and over
Tags! Every fic author I know or have scrolled past the works of are pretty thorough about tagging things! If there's something a person doesn't want to read about, than don't click a story with that tag! Ao3 hosting fic that someone finds morally wrong or offensive isn't a crime, and the fic isn't going to cause others to go out and emulate the actions of the fic!
I was in the middle of writing a response that asked if the anon also felt that playing Dungeons and Dragons or listening to heavy metal music leads to Satanism, murder, and/or suicide, but decided I had better things to do with my life. But I had to vent about it somewhere.
Already got dragged in. I regret.

Yeah, if Anthony Comstock. could stay the heck away from my fanfic, that would be great.
