Do I know non-Euclidean geometry?

Sure. Stuff that happens on the surface of a sphere - Great Circles are the equivalent of lines, and cannot be parallel to one another.

Wow. I'm looking at the licensure requirements, and apparently to teach middle school math you're expected to know Algebra, Euclidean geometry, Trigonometry, Discrete/finite mathematics, Introductory calculus through integration, and History of mathematics. Actually, I agree that you should know these things, but... is the implication here that you would teach these things in middle school?

And here I thought my middle school was pretty nifty. We never even got past algebra!

Up with the sun

amych, it's a dyslexia joke...

I assumed it was a gay joke. I couldn't figure out quite *how* it was a gay joke, mind, but that's where my mind tends to go when the words "Tom Cruise" and "top" are juxtaposed.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Tom Cruise isn't gay! My vitamins tell me so.

Here's my next putting-off-the-shower question: does some spammer actually think that I will be fooled by the familiarity of the "Hiya!" subject line into opening an email from "Federals G. Junketed"?

ETA: Or "Wilbur L. Thoroughgoing"?

EATA: Or "Mutineer J. Wriest" just because he says, winningly, "You don't know me form Adam"?

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Algebra, Euclidean geometry, Trigonometry, Discrete/finite mathematics, Introductory calculus through integration, and History of mathematics

I did all these in middle school (except maybe discrete/finite math), but I was in the most advanced group of a math/science magnet program. (These days, I can barely count to ten, but in middle school, I was SMRT!)

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

ita, I hate to break it to you, but if your vitamins are talking to you, you've got big problems. Also, I think your vitamins might be big liars.

Emily, are there separate qualifications for teaching middle school and high school? Because I think there were just two licenses 15 years ago in California - Elementary and Secondary and middle school part of Secondary. I do think it'd be pretty cool if you could start teaching finite math and history of math in middle school, but it's hardly likely.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

You have to say "alledgedly" gay joke. The morning radio show out here is has been threatened with a law suit by Cruise's people for wondering if he's gay.

Jesse - Jun 06, 2005 7:51:20 am PDT #9596 of 10001
Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Wait, who would say Tom Cruise is gay? He's banging Katie Holmes, isn't he?!?!??!

OMG so bored.
