I don't give half a hump if you're innocent or not. So where does that put you?

I like whiskey AND pink - not mutually exclusive. ex-cigarette and gas (diesel) purchaser. Can't sync up on the comics though.

non-ruffley, pleated or horridly colored 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

but the stuff out there in general is pretty scary - lots of shredded looking hems.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

But really, just ruling out the ugly stuff was a good half the store.)

Also, there's a lot of stealth fug out there right now. You know, when you see what looks like a nice black dress hanging and then you pull it off the rack and find that there's bright blue and blaze orange appliqued kittens or some shit all down the front.

What kind of dresses do you like, Hil and shrift?

Mostly, what I was going for was something that was a) not floral, b) not overly ruffly, c) not fluorescent, and d) wouldn't require me to buy feat-of-engineering-underwear.

Am now flipping through Bluefly. But I have the feeling I'll end up buying a suit and just wearing a cleavagey slutbomb shirt to make it festive.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm a ragged hem fan myself.

This needs a home, though I suspect with neither Hil nor Shrift.

Erinaceous says not to wear black to weddings. Me, I'm not so traditional, and would wear this if I knew the bride didn't care.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

My "not ugly" requirements were not too many sequins, no huge flowers, not flourescent, and couldn't possibly be mistaken for a Lilly Pulitzer. (Lilly Pulitzers are fine in their place. The "Special Occaision Dresses" section of a department store is not it.)

I think you should get a cheongsam.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Can larger people actually wear cheongsams? Without looking foolish and falling over, I mean.

Did you have a religious dress code to meet, Hil?

If this came in another colour, I'd totally be behind it.

I'm a size 16/18, and I wear them. Okay, I slit the sides up to the hips and wear them over a Big Skirt, but I've seen women my size and larger wear cheongsams in the usual manner and look fabulous.
