I'm a ragged hem fan myself.
This needs a home, though I suspect with neither Hil nor Shrift.
Erinaceous says not to wear black to weddings. Me, I'm not so traditional, and would wear this if I knew the bride didn't care.

ita can have all my ragged hems.
My "not ugly" requirements were not too many sequins, no huge flowers, not flourescent, and couldn't possibly be mistaken for a Lilly Pulitzer. (Lilly Pulitzers are fine in their place. The "Special Occaision Dresses" section of a department store is not it.)
I think you should get a cheongsam.
Can larger people actually wear cheongsams? Without looking foolish and falling over, I mean.
Did you have a religious dress code to meet, Hil?
If this came in another colour, I'd totally be behind it.

I'm a size 16/18, and I wear them. Okay, I slit the sides up to the hips and wear them over a Big Skirt, but I've seen women my size and larger wear cheongsams in the usual manner and look fabulous.

Yep. Skirt past the knees, sleeves at least to the elbows, not even a hint of cleavage. I was figuring that if I could get something long enough and with a high enough neckline, then I could wear a cardigan over it, or if I could find something with the length and sleeves but not the neckline, then I could wear a camisole under it. I wasn't too worried about skirt length, since things that are supposed to be miniskirts tend to be just above knee-legnth on me, so anything reasonably long would work.

I'd wear that style, I suppose. Just not in pink.
I'm just not glamorous enough to pull off the black one, though.
