Jessica, I think the NYT heard your complaint about fluff articles, and now they're printing some real news.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I don't understand why the zealots were suddenly allowed to legislate their crazy.

Because they were elected into power.

And it wasn't sudden. It seems that way because we didn't see it coming, but it's been building in the background for years now. Scary stuff.

Our wings are not tired.

Speaking of zealots, apparently Bush has learned something about sticking his authority where it doesn't belong. His office annouced they won't fight the court decision to allow the 13 year old girl in state custody to have her abortion. [link]

edit to note that is Jeb! Bush

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I'd like to beat the shit out of whomever it was who left the back door open so the crazy could blow in.

It was me Allyson. I apologise. I thought I'd just crack it to let in a little whimsy. I didn't realize it would turn into full blown craxy.

"All the news that's fit to -- ooh look, something shiny!"

(The really funny thing? I've seen the Bronx Zoo penguin feeding, and it's crap. You want adorable penguin feeding, go to Brooklyn. Much more audience-friendly.)

I have a plan.

Is there a general buffista name/p-word for the LA Times? Orson Scott Card wrote a commentary piece in it today that I wanted to link to.

Well, I think the basic Republican agenda is pro-corporate, but they need the christian right (as opposed to mainline christians who are all over the map politically) to form a tough combination to beat. They've got the money and the fanatics on their side.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Is there a general buffista name/p-word for the LA Times?

Maybe, but I've forgotten since bugmenot.com has something for just about every site.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Thomash, I just read that and I didn't have to log in to look at it.
