I really like my PhD adviser
This is awesome, and I'm so happy for you.
I imagine it still took a lot of courage - to leave the known and safe.
Yes, I'm a little scared about what comes next, after the wedding, the honeymoon, my second hip surgery and recovery from same. But I'm not thinking about any of the "what's next" stuff right now. I'm too busy planning the wedding and the honeymoon, thankfully. I imagine that when it's all over I'll feel a little lost and panicky.
This is awesome
It's so very important. I'm very lucky in that. [Edit: and thankful]
I imagine that when it's all over I'll feel a little lost and panicky.
Maybe I'm stepping over bounds here, but wouldn't the new "home" security (I'm not even sure I'm calling this by the right name) be a sort of something to lean on, to know that "this is OK", a fountain of strength to go from to the new possibilities?
Either way, I think you're very wise, to concentrate at things one step at a time. I have to tackle things this way, otherwise I'm completely lost, and all the details together seem overwhelming.
How long between the wedding and the surgery? And I forget - where are you going for your honeymoon?
Are you still here, Nilly? I had to catch up with the thread, and after each of your posts, I'd think you were surely gone, by now.
Cindy, I wasn't in front of the computer when you posted - I was TAing. I still didn't finish, but in the next hour, I have to.
Go, Nilly, go!!
Did you get any sleep at all last night?
Eeek -- I've also been getting your all-nighter (and now into an all-dayer for you) in compressed FF style, Nilly. Rest-ma to you when you can!
Jon Stewart was back on TV with a new episode of
The Daily Show
last night, so all is better in my little world....
Nilly! Guess what? In a couple of summers, I'm going to be in Israel! The school that just hired me out in LA is a private Jewish high school, and they send any of the their faculty who are interested over to Israel to expand their understanding of Jewish history and culture. It's a ways off, yet, but I'm excited!
Kristin! Go you! That's wonderful news.
Big crazy move, Kristin! Congratulations!
Congratulations, Kristin!
Eek, you just reminded me that I have about seventy things to do before I go to Israel that I haven't done yet.
Today, I am continuing my quest for a dress to wear to a friend's wedding. My plan was, if I couldn't find something that was modest enough on it's own, I'd find a dress that was long enough and with a high enough neckline, but sleeveless, and then wear a sweater or a jacket over it, but just about everything in the stores this season is way too low-cut.
