If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I saw that quiz the other day and started to get head-explody before I even tried.

Of course it was the other recruiter lines that were funnier:

Recruiter: Now, are either of you homosexuals?
John: You mean like flaming? Or part time?
Recruiter: Well, it's a question we have to ask of all our new recruits.
Russell: No, we're not homosexual, but we are willing to learn.
John: Yeah, would they send us someplace special?

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Yay, bug!

John: Come on, it's Czechoslovakia. We zip in, we pick 'em up, we zip right out again. We're not going to Moscow. It's Czechoslovakia, it's like going into Wisconsin.
Russell: Well, I got the shit kicked out of me in Wisconsin once. Forget it.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Jesse - WTF - that cannot be something that actually can be done, right?

There are solutions. Not that I've tried it, but I saw it the other day, too. You can answer 20 easily. And the answer to question one is neither 1 (A) or 2 (B)

On a similar subject, Debet and I were discussing the fact that very few women seem to win Darwin awards, and wondered if this was an indication that they are generally smarter than men when it comes to stuff like this, or just being ignored by the people who give out the awards.

There are evolutionary psychologists who claim that there will always be more Darwin award winners who are male, but that there will also always be more Nobel prize winners who are male. The claim is that the same single-minded indifference to convention is necessary in both cases, but it's a matter of how single-mindedness interacts with competence. Nature can afford the bargain, they say, because the loss of a few idiot males will not reduce the overall reproductive capacity of the species. On the other hand, every idiot woman who blows herself up would have an impact on reproduction, so the system will be set up to keep the number of idiot women to a minimum.

Disclaimer: Not an evolutionary psychologist
