Which is what Senate Democrats (including my own Senators) tried to do, back in 96, or so.
A few of them anyway. In this case, there's a pretty decent chance it will happen. I don't think they ever had the numbers back then.

I made it to the post office this afternoon. It took me 45 minutes to mail 3 packages. I forgot that it was passport season. Grr. Next time I bring my own packaging and use the automated doohickey.

I think the Republicans are being as dirty as mud about this. I also think the Democrats are more shocked than they ought to be, that there's gambling in Casblanca.
Now the nuclear option part of it is interesting. The phase was coined by Trent Lott, used by Bill Frist, but recently the republicans have tried to move away from that phase and accuse Democrats of calling it the nuclear option.
Opportunity lost. I should have said the Republicans were being as dirty as a dirty bomb.

This is the party that back-dated the 2001 stock market drop by a couple of years, so I'm not terribly suprised.
Yeah. And the party that denied that they ever said that Iraq was an immediate threat.
There's a passport season?

Don't you remember Colin Powell's speech at the U.N. about how we needed to bring democracy and freedom to Iraq?
The "nuclear option" also refers to the *way* in which the republicans are planning to remove the filibuster. Instead of putting it forward as a rule change, which would require a 2/3rds majority, they'll get Cheney to declare the filibuster unconstitutional and then "uphold" his ruling, which only requires 51 votes.
