I can't even.

On a list I'm on, the Kansas Monkey's Uncle 2 discussion has been raging for days, with a couple of far righteous folks defending said backwardsness. This gem appeared today:

There is a growing movement in Kansas to add ID/CS to the curriculum. IMHO it is less about theology and more a push to "take back" the schools.

Exactly. It is teleology that wants to be Lysenkoism when it grows up.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I was a little chuffed to work out that one of my high-living (Why must I pump my own gas? I didn't do this in the Old Country) relatives was living beyond her means. She'd not made it to the point of admitting her household wasn't pulling in $2M/year (like oldest sis), or that being a single mother whose kid was starting Morehouse (unlike second older sis with a similar income) was a costly proposition.

Her younger sister, with her law degree and having passed the bar, OTOH, said "Fuck it. I'm staying home and getting pregnant, and we'll fly everywhere all the time, because the love of my life is a flight attendant." Which was very cool. But making that admission must have been stressful.

If I only had a brain...

I'm talking about why I don't think that income = class.

I didn't say that income was the same as class, I said that income was the most important factor in class.

Americans tend to take money as a sign of God's or Natural Selection's blessing on a person. If you're rich, you're more important than anybody except a celebrity. Academics rank significantly below medical doctors everywhere but within the academic community itself.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Meanwhile, I'm hoping to save up enough for a couch before the fall series premieres.

I think I need to be related to ita.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

If you're rich, you're more important than anybody except a celebrity.

Are there many poor celebrities?

You don't think a poor lawyer is higher classed than a rich janitor? When all is said and done?

I think I need to be related to ita.

It's a crapshoot, I warn you.
