Suela!

Um, I got to watch exactly one episode of Farscape on this vacation. I'm still not at the halfway mark that you mentioned, and it's still fun. I had to stop because my roommate came back, and she really can't watch anything science-fiction/fantasy, so on her request we switched to "Gilmore Girls" (which isn't considered fantasy, apparently, regardless of the amounts and types of foods the characters are supposed to eat while maintaining their very slim figure).

[Edit: Kate! When are you leaving for Germany? Where else will you visit?]

Ha!

Nilly, I'm leaving on May 13 to stay with a friend in Berlin for a couple of weeks. If possible, I'd like to try to visit the Czech Republic while I'm there, since he has family there, but he's also going to be busy with schoolwork, so it may not work out. But I'm super excited for Berlin! I've never been to Germany, but my family heritage is mostly German on both sides, so I think it will be cool to see where I'm "from".

The other cool thing about this trip is that my best friend from Cape Town is going to try to meet up with us for a few days also, which would be AWESOME--I miss him terribly and I haven't seen him in a year. (The friend-who-lives-in-Berlin is also a Cape Town friend.)

What is vegetarian, kosher ham? How does that work?

Hi Nilly!

I slept for a really long time last night, and now I have coffee and tandoori naan. Yay.

Bwah! Very good point. I consider Friends a fantasy show as well, considering the size of the apartments these people inhabit.

Betsy has meanwhile fallen hard for Farscape, and that's been fun to watch. Even her kids like it! Heh.

I'm watching some dvds of dueSouth that a friend lent me, and liking them so far, but not loving them. It's a mid-90s show about a Canadian Mountie (federal policeman, basically) in Chicago. It's quite witty, especially when the Mountie's dead father shows up and starts kibbitzing on his life. Also, there's a wolf, although he's played by a rather unwolf-looking Malamute.

Kate, that sounds awesome, indeed! It's great that you get to meet your Cape Town friends again, on various places around the world. I hope you have a wonderful trip.

What is vegetarian, kosher ham? How does that work?

It's a vegetables product that's supposed to taste like ham. Since it's all vegetarian, there's no problem in it being kosher.

The moment I saw it in the store, I just *had* to buy it, so that I could imagine how actual ham tastes like. I even made poor Perkins taste it so that somebody who knows the taste of actual ham may compare the taste of this imitation to the real thing (she said that the taste is not so similar, but the aftertaste is).

Hi, Perkins! You're all settled in your new place and your new job by now?

Nilly! So good to see you here. Has anybody mentioned, or posted a link to, the Serenity trailer? Just...you know, for taunty purposes?

Cute Annabel photo!

And it's Eddie's birthday? Felicitations, Eddie!

Hee. I'm really enjoying "Gilmore Girls" (my friend T lends me her tapes - she's trying to tv-educate me. She's also lending me "The West Wing"). It's fun and witty. I just want to make that clear.

Betsy has meanwhile fallen hard for Farscape, and that's been fun to watch. Even her kids like it! Heh.

I really should take a peak at the relevant thread, shouldn't I? Of course, you do realize that if I do fall in love, I'll immediately start whining, because the tapes I got only have the first season, right? (some of the rest, at least seasons 2 and 3, were shown in Israel at some point, I'm pretty sure. Only, on channels I don't have, so no use for whiney-me).

[Edit: Beverly!

So that's why there are over 500 new posts in the "Firefly" thread? I didn't get a chance to glance there, yet.]

Well, it depends what you mean by settled. I still have about 40 boxes to unpack, and so far no one has figured out how to make the home grown in NY software that I need to do my job actually work in California, but other than that things are really good.

Thanks! I expect I will. Now I just have to figure out a way to come visit you in Israel someday...
