What is even happening?

Oh, yeah...

Congrats, Alibelle!!!

Jilli, I always imagine your family more as madcap--the kind of crazy that is fun.

Must be something going around, Kat. MIL just sent us DH's letter jacket.

He had me put it on. I said, "Give me your class ring, and I'll know our love is real."

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Kat, I'm battling a migraine (so I chose against the lemonade) -- give me a holler when you're gonna go, and I'll see if the meds have worked.

Cindy -- my particular definition of crazy was including the fun sort as well as the dangerous sort.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I'd love to get my class ring again. It's in an old jewelry box in the foot of the closet, I think.

My school was so delightfully conformist that we could only choose between two colors for the stone: dark blue and light blue.

Okay. Or maybe we should just avoid din and call you when we are ready for dessert. We're lookign for a fudge sundae.

Dessert definitely works. You know me.

Well, yes, except for the occasional phone call with my mother that goes like this:

Mom: Oh, you're not dead! We have a daughter!
Me: Ha, ha. Y'know, you could call me sometime.
Mom; Oh, but we don't want to bother you. Your father and I know you're busy.
Me: So it's okay for you never to call me, but give me a guilt trip because I don't call you as often as you want?
Mom: Yes. Besides, we call, and you're not home.
Me: That's what the magic of voice-mail is for!
Mom: But we don't want to bother you.
Me (rolling my eyes): Mom, I love you, but you drive me crazy. So, how are you and Dad?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yay, Alibelle, BA!! (Or is it BFA?)

I am feeling unbelievably first-world whiny right now, but there it is. My mani/pedi was not soothing, and my fingernails don't even look that good! I don't know what my toenails ever did to her, but she punished the crap out of them. AND What Not To Wear is a rerun tonight. Wah.

I think I need hot cocoa.

My mother never hesitates to call me. My father never hesitates to avoid the phone entirely.

Something in the ear irrigation I got last week has heightened my sensitivity to high-pitched sounds. Which is irritating. Everything sounds so sibilant now.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

We could choose anything from the Josten's catalog for class rings. (I think it was Josten's.) Most of my friends waffled between school color and birthstone, but for me they were one and the same (garnet). I picked a traditional style, too. A lot of my friends went for more delicate looks, thinking that way they'd wear them in college. I knew I wouldn't keep wearing mine, so I went for the full-out old-school "this is my class ring, I survived, and I'll be outta here soon" look.
