Jilli, I always imagine your family more as madcap--the kind of crazy that is fun.
Well, yes, except for the occasional phone call with my mother that goes like this:
Mom: Oh, you're not dead! We have a daughter!
Me: Ha, ha. Y'know,
you
could call
me
sometime.
Mom; Oh, but we don't want to bother you. Your father and I know you're busy.
Me: So it's okay for you never to call me, but give me a guilt trip because I don't call you as often as you want?
Mom: Yes. Besides, we call, and you're not home.
Me: That's what the magic of voice-mail is for!
Mom: But we don't want to bother you.
Me
(rolling my eyes):
Mom, I love you, but you drive me crazy. So, how are you and Dad?
Yay, Alibelle, BA!! (Or is it BFA?)
I am feeling unbelievably first-world whiny right now, but there it is. My mani/pedi was not soothing, and my fingernails don't even look that good! I don't know what my toenails ever did to her, but she punished the crap out of them. AND What Not To Wear is a rerun tonight. Wah.
I think I need hot cocoa.
My mother never hesitates to call me. My father never hesitates to avoid the phone entirely.
Something in the ear irrigation I got last week has heightened my sensitivity to high-pitched sounds. Which is irritating. Everything sounds so sibilant now.
We could choose anything from the Josten's catalog for class rings. (I think it was Josten's.) Most of my friends waffled between school color and birthstone, but for me they were one and the same (garnet). I picked a traditional style, too. A lot of my friends went for more delicate looks, thinking that way they'd wear them in college. I knew I wouldn't keep wearing mine, so I went for the full-out old-school "this is my class ring, I survived, and I'll be outta here soon" look.
Oh, and when you get them all together, my family is fairly crazy.
I just watched the end of PGL and it was so great! I'm so happy for John Gulager. Working for him still might drive me crazy, but it was so rewarding to see all those guys who gave him such a hard time talk about how great he was and how they would work with him again. I will defnintely see the film, even though I don't really like horror.
Cindy -- my particular definition of crazy was including the fun sort as well as the dangerous sort. Are you calling me a skimmer, miss ita? No seriously, I did see that, and your great day, and your dessert choices, too. I would be coveting if not for the migraine.
So it's okay for you never to call me, but give me a guilt trip because I don't call you as often as you want?Hee! That's so true. Actually, I talk to my mother every day now, but when I was in college, that was the case. For the first couple of years, we could only call on a pay phone. We had phones in our rooms, but they were for incoming, and on-campus calls, only. I think my junior year, they finally let us get our own phones through the phone company. During the pay phone years, my mother would feel badly that I didn't call, but I didn't really want to be talking to her in front of the whole lounge. In the we-owned-the-phone years, I didn't want to be spending all my pizza/beer/cigarette money.

I think I need hot cocoa. You definitely need hot cocoa, Jesse. You deserve hot cocoa. Tonight, you might be fulfilling hot cocoa's destiny.
I had hot cocoa. Now I am going to bed. Whee what an exciting life!
Trader Joe's has mango tortilla chips. Mango! They're mangoed in the way that the Tostitos Hint of Lime chips are limeified. So, not overwhelmingly mangoey, just mangoriffic enough.
Of course, I love fruity salsa, so these chips are perfect for me -- I can eat them with regular salsa and it's like having fruity salsa!
Those who don't care for fruit with their salsafication might not like these chips.
In conclusion, yum.
