Tara: Do you have any books on robots? Giles: Oh, yes, dozens. There's a lot of research to be done in order to--no, I'm lying. Haven't got squat. I just like watching Xander squirm.

what else is up?

Hi, beth (whose birthday I missed!). I'm just back today from Passover, which has been a whole week. In which I didn't have any computer access, let alone internet access (my parents have both, but I was at their place only at the beginning and end of the holiday).

I don't think I'll be able to go this long without Google ever again. I couldn't even pretend that I know stuff! And dictionaries and encyclopedias expect you to know the exact word you're looking for, not what's related to it, and how can my sieve deal with that, fed only by matzot and still dizzy from cleaning-materials since the former week? I'm so computer-addicted. Sigh.

But I went on a picnic with family and friends, went to an amusement park (and managed to mention Disneyland only around twice an hour, so everybody else forgave me), borrowed a 9000-pieces jigsaw puzzle from a friend, some books from another, another got her "Wonderfalls" DVDs (um, I didn't take them from her, but I got a promise that we'll watch later on), and I didn't get to catch up on all the work I missed while cleaning for Passover. The weather was perfect - in fact, I don't remember such a gorgeous weather during any Passover before. All in all, quite a good holiday.

How's everybody?

[Edited to wave at Hil and vw]

Oh, Nilly, that sounds like a wonderful holiday. I think I'd go nuts without Google for that long too, though.

I had a question for you last week, but I can no longer remember it. Oh, well. So good to "see" you.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Well, I finally got my actual confirmation (after about three "this is almost a confirmation, but not quite") from birthright israel.

Also, I am very very sick of Passover by now, and have already made plans with a friend to go out for Italian food tonight. Mmm, pasta.

Even better would be an entree, like a lasagne, or a casserole -- like vw said, something that would freeze well.

She's living with her parents at the moment, so that kind of thing isn't really needed, I don't think. Getting her younger brothers earplugs might be though. Hmm.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I have to name-drop. I went to see this off-Broadway play this afternoon, starring Vincent Kartheiser, because my friend used to be his agent. So we talked to his girlfriend at the intermission, and then after the play, went up to the (amazing!!) apartment where he's been staying for the run of the show. Vinnie almost bummed a cigarette off me, but rejected it because it was menthol.

You can all touch me now.

Ooooooo. But also sad, because in my head, Vinnie doesn't smell like cigarettes. He smells like cinnamon.

Oy, I'm sorry. If you do remember it, and I'm not here, you know you could e-mail me, right?

Well, I finally got my actual confirmation

Congrats! Do you already have dates and stuff scheduled?

One of my cousins was dreaming of pizza since Monday. I made sure the salad I got today had pasta inside, but what I really miss is (whitefonted for Hil's sake) the smell of freshly-baked bread.

Oh, absolutely! I don't think it was anything that important, otherwise I would have e-mailed. Don't worry about it at all. I think maybe it was just that I hadn't talked to you in a while and wondered how you were doing...and forgot that it was Passover, silly me!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Sounds like a good time, Nilly.

SO TRUE. I think we all might need Treos.

But also sad, because in my head, Vinnie doesn't smell like cigarettes. He smells like cinnamon.

But he didn't have the cigarette! Also, the fakey cigarettes they were using for the show smelled great and a little cinamonny, but more clovey. But not really like clove cigarettes, I don't think.

Do you know already the locations? Will you have some free time? IIRC, you're going to be here for Book week (books events in every big city, with bazaars and the like). It's always lots of fun.

and forgot that it was Passover

I hadn't been around lately, at all, Passover or not. In fact, I shouldn't even be here right now. But most of the people are not here today anyway, all the students aren't back yet, so I comfort myself with playing online.

Jesse!
