Also, if you're flying American, that's the last stop on the AirTrain from Jamaica, so it was like ten minutes longer than some of the other airlines.
Seriously, ask four NYers how to get to the airport and you get five different opinions.

OK, excellent. My bus gets in at 2:10 and my plane leaves at 6, so I'm not too worried about time. Thanks!
edit: heh. There seems to be some consensus on the E train, so that's what I'll go with.
So far, the red spinny Rambaldi device has (1) exploded and almost drowned Vaughn, and (b) caused bees to go insane. It's purpose is to look cool and do stuff that the plot needs.
Wait, wait. This map indicates the E doesn't go to the AirTrain: [link]
That map's wrong, then, since I've taken the E to the Airtrain more than once. (Sutphin Blvd is the connecting station.)
The AirTrain goes to Howard Beach and to Jamaica. The E goes to Jamaica, and the A goes to Howard Beach.
EDIT: A geographically correct subway map: which might make it a little clearer: [link]
OK. So I get on the E going towards Jamaica Center (according to that map), then get off at Sutphin Blvd? If it's an express, will it still stop at Sutphin?

Yes.
And there's construction on the terminal for American at JFK which means you should add another 30 minutes on your previous estimate. We were about 2 minutes away from missing a flight because of it.
So basically, get right on the subway when you get off the bus, and you may be right on time or you may be really early. Depending.
