Spike ,'Never Leave Me'

Spike's Bitches 23: We've mastered the power of positive giving up.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

"I'm trying the Church of Satan this week. The services are messy, but, boy, do those guys know their Bible!"

Hearting Connie as usual.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Suddenly we have a bee problem. At least, I think they're bees--they look sorta like yellow jackets but not exactly. Definitely not wasps. Also not bumblebees. Something black and yellow and buzzy.

While I was putting Annabel in the carseat on the way to my doctor's appointment today, Bee #1 gets in somehow and buzzes around the back seat. Eventually I managed to get it to leave, and I was proud of myself for not visibly showing symptoms of bee phobia in front of Annabel--I don't want her to be chicken about all the same things I am. But my initial bp measurement was 142/95. I told the nurse about the bee and suggested we recheck before I went home--by which time it'd dropped to 128/74.

Just a few minutes ago I was collecting my mail, and saw Bee #2, looking listless, in the mailbox as I pulled the stuff out. I beat it to death with a catalog, but am still a little freaked at the thought of the sting I would've gotten if I'd stuck my hand in the mailbox at just a slightly different angle.

We've lived in this house for going on six years. This is the first time I've ever noticed bees.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

yellowjackets?

Good for you for not freaking out. I know I would have.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Damn, Betsy. I managed to miss reading about your work sitch earlier - that's shitty. (And I know from shitty. My cat - well, last night involved more shit than I normally like to encounter as I'm trying to get to sleep.)

Gud, I hope things calm down for you at home, love.

fwiw, I think Threads of Life is using an overworn image. Missed Connections is fresher and more evocative. imho.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

vw, most of your pieces sound like they're about the hellish parts of life AND coming through them stronger, which is making me think of a title like "Baptism By Fire" (which is a bit melodramatic), or -- oh! I know it's stealing from a comic book, but "Phoenix Rising"!!!

Now tagless for your comfort.

Steph, your BigBoss sounds like a good guy. I do hope he's recovering nicely. And I hope he loves his Flesh Eating Bacteria stuffed microbe. Sounds like he has a good sense of humor about this and it taking it in stride.

We're so behind. I have a new haircut and we're all fed but time to finish the last of the packing and get our assess on the road.

I get to spend time with erika on Sunday! Wheeeeee! /taunty pants

If I only had a brain...

Apparently we will get time-and-a-half after all.

Still hate it.

yellowjackets?

As in "yellow jackets, eek!" or "what are these yellow jackets of which you speak?"

Good for you for not freaking out. I know I would have.

Oh, I freaked out on the inside (as my bp revealed), and let enough of my true feelings show through in the form of words I'd rather Annabel not pick up. Knowing my luck, her first reallyo trulyo unmistakable word used properly in context will be "fuck!" or "dammit!"
