My doctor called and woke me up at 7:30AM to tell me I should be having oatmeal for breakfast.
Well, not quite. To tell me she got my lab results and everything is normal except my cholesterol is bad and my triglycerides are worse, and I should exercise and eat low fat and oatmeal. Um. Someone tell me about triglycerides?
I blame time spent on a dairy farm, watching my cousins hook the cows up to electric milking machines.
BWAH! Oh, I have the squick myself. Plus, it was BORING being hooked to a mini-milking machine. It's amazing what we do for the little buggers, isn't it?
Um. Someone tell me about triglycerides?
Um, they're bad. Avoid 'em.
I hope my stylist has some time to squeeze me in in the next three days.
{{{Daniel}}} sorry for the suckage. I hate that feeling. I hope it gets better.
meara, I have high triglycerides. My doctor tells me to cut down on the carbs, but I'm not sure how the connection works out.
Belated Happy Birthday wishes for GC. I hope it was the bestest.
Breastfeeding the boys was a lovely peaceful time for me. Countless times a day I was “forced” to stop doing all other stuff to sit nursing the baby. I went back to work almost immediately and would take the baby with me to customer’s offices and nurse in break rooms or empty offices. I wasn’t at all shy about it. I nursed in restaurants at the table, in malls on benches, at the beach. I nursed the first for 2 years and only stopped because I got pregnant. Bobby lost interest at about 15 months. It was very convenient to always have food ready at proper temperature.
I found pumps awkward and didn’t use them. White font for the squick inclined:
I found that when I was nursing on one side the other side gushed so I would loosely attach one of those bottle liners on the other breast and let it fill.
Of course I only did that at home.
Mmmm oatmeal.
Someone tell me about triglycerides?
They're related to carbs and sugar. I looked up the blood chemistry of it once, but I don't totally remember how it worked out.
I was able to signifigantly lower my triglycerides by taking fish oil.
Timelies all. Yawn.
Sending all kinds of interview~ma to vw!
And get better~ma to Daniel. Sixth day of the death flu? Yuck.
Hey Eddie, what happened at the barbecue on Saturday?
When I go to my cholesterol doctor, he always looks at my test results and tries to tell me to eat more fish.
American Heart Association, [link] has some useful info about tryglicerides. Sadly, it says to limit booze too.
Flax seed (and flax seed oil) is also supposed to have high omega-3 fatty acids. Some take that as a supplement in order to avoid fish oil.
Fish oil is supposed to help with the good cholesterol. That and exercise (a brisk walk at lunchtime works for me) get the good cholesterol up.
