[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Spellcheck always wants to change my first name to Mount.
Huh, nobody's ever called me Spellcheck before...
Ok...in getting ready for starting to put together this portfolio, I went through everything I've been given back by the professor (I keep them in their own folder). I am missing assignments turned in on the following dates:
February 14
February 22
March 8
April 1
Plus, every revision that I've written this semester (I quit turning them in sometime in March, because it was clear he wasn't going to get them back to me...and I decided I didn't need the frustration) has not been returned...some of those go back to early February as well.
Please tell me I'm not off-base in being frustrated by this. I've even talked to the professor about it. There's only 1 1/2 weeks left in the semester. This portfolio is 50% of my grade. I really need this stuff back so I can make revisions and know where I stand walking into turning in the portfolio.
eta: I know this started a kind of a huge deal when I brought it up before. I'm not trying to start a huge deal again. I'm honestly asking if I have a right to be frustrated by this. 'Cause if the teachers and profs around the board feel that I don't, then I need to change my attitude about it, which is what I did before. I'm afraid, though, that I really let it go, maybe to a point that may end up hurting my grade, 'cause I'll be rushed to get these things revised.
Come back! I didn't mean to kill the thread. I promise I won't complain about school or profs anymore. Only positive comments will come from these fingers. Promise!
I can understand your frustration, especially if the prof hasn't given any kind of indication of when he'll give them back.
It seems a bit much to me, vw, but may be he considers the revisions part of your portfolio already and he'l lump them all in together?
ION, I have a cold and feel yucky.
IOON, I am going out for Dim Sum today and maybe that will cure me!
VW, place a single page where each revision goes in the portfilio with the words like "Placemarker for paper _______. To be removed when paper is returned by professor ______."
If indeed he can't get your paper back to you, you will at least have something in there to indicate why, and the professor will be semi-gently reminded he really has to keep track of things.

Oh, he's given indication...he just never follows through.

That's not how he explained it at the beginning of the semester, but maybe he's changed his mind on things. It's fine. I'm just a bit panicky about getting everything done before the end of the semester, and this isn't helping. It'll be ok.

I'm not sure I could actually follow through with that. I think what I am going to do, though, is go see him during office hours tomorrow with a list of what I'm missing (and new copies in case he's lost them). Hopefully, he'll be able to take a look at them and get them back to me by the end of the week or so...
vw, that sounds like a good plan. Speaking only as a former student, I would be frustrated, too. Perhaps there is some way to air your concerns to him, or tell him where the experience has not matched your expectations, and that you like to be able to plan your studies and workload, so that you're not overwhelming yourself. I can certainly understand how a teacher would get behind when he's marking writing (as opposed to just correcting tests), but if you need to revise based on his earlier comments, it seems reasonable to expect to get them back prior to the last week and a half of the semester.
My boss at the theatre ambushed me last night at the wedding and asked if I could work a second show today, and like an idiot, I was all sure, no problem!
Shouldn't it be illegal to hold people to agreements made while intoxicated?
The wedding last night was very fun, and the space was super cool. I'll post pix as soon as I get them. I had mucho champagne, and lost my purse in one place, my keys at another, and my cell phone at yet a third location. I had to hitch a ride home with the bride and groom (they live in the apartment above me) and had to sit on the groom's lap all the way home. Luckily, I have an extra key stashed inside my building.
No cute boy action last night, but I had lots of fun anyway. Now I have to wait for my keys and phone to arrive, and then I have to work at 1:30. 2 shows. Bleargh.
And then I'm subbing tomorrow. Joy,
