Spike's Bitches 23: We've mastered the power of positive giving up.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

But I got a nice spa basket for Secretaries Day. I'm not even a secretary.

We had our annual Admin Assistants lunch, which generally consists of individually ordered things from Jae's. But Jae's is primarily various Oriental foods, and some people didn't really like the options, so we went with something else.

This something else turned out to be cold grilled chicken and disgusting vegetarian lasagna. The strange new woman who's sort of in charge of the office told the painter to keep working while we were eating and also said that we were having the lunch in honor of the outgoing Acting Dean. All in all, it was strange. Not that I think the lunch ever made any of us feel terribly warm and fuzzy, but it is in fact supposed to be the Admin Assistants day Thing.

I really can't figure that woman out.

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

Aw, just missed Chikat earlier- I'm staying in Lincoln Park, off Diversey.

I just got back from making my way to the Art Institute all alone, and I had myself a grand old time and bought lots of prezzies. The boy will be home from work in an hour or so, and has confirmed some sort of surprise plan that I get to know nothing about. I lurve Chicago.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

JZ's grandfather died this afternoon. He'd been in failing health for the last two years, and recently they had to ampute his foot. I think he just let go after that.

He was sitting in the backyard in sunshine, with a breeze and just passed on. Not a bad way to go, really, and it was time.

But she's pretty sad now. He was the strong core of that family, and she's missing him.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Jacqueline, my sincere condolences for your grandfather. I hope sorrow passes quickly, and thoughts of life lived lifts your heart.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

My sympathies, Jacqueline, to you and your family. Peace to him, strength and peace to you.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

So sorry, JZ. He got to see you grown into a wonderful, vibrant, warm woman and happily maried and I am sure that gave him great pleasure.
